Escaping the Madhouse...Is a disappointing film

I know this has nothing to do with what I normally discuss here, but since I'm working on a graphic novel related to the theme here. I figured, why not? People generally say you should never judge books by their cover, looking at the cover of this film it would be difficult to tell what the story is about, but once I see an old hag on the cover with her hands covering the mouth of a younger girl. Then I must find out what the hell the plot is about... But since the directors are nowhere near as demented as I am, and would never think out of the box. I can imagine this being something I would have thought up for a book cover, then the reader will find out just how nasty the ugly old woman really is toward the girl she's trying to silence from revealing any of her dark misdeeds...Oh wait I have done something like this before a long time ago.

If I had anything to do with this film and it's entire setting, and if you are familiar with my mind set well you already know that the evil looking old witch would be sticking her defiled fingers inside places the girl would least expect them to be, maybe she would lick her face and force the girl to call her "Mommy" while she does things to her body... Don't you dare underestimate me when the combination involves an older woman and a female that must learn who her superior is. You know how deep and dangerous I can get with the combination.

When it comes down to stories about mental hospitals, or prisons and it involves women I get excited sometimes but these tales never seem to fit the idea I would go for if I had anything to do with these themes. Maybe that's because the film makers are only interested in the cliche elements behind stories like Escaping The Madhouse even if they were trying to base some of it on real life events...Who the hell cares. I'm honestly bored of cinema just like everything else, and this is the first time I even bothered to watch a modern movie since everything "Modern" is garbage, especially pornography. So I figured well let's see how bad real movies have messed up over the years since the political left is killing the industry and driving everyone away from it.

In the case of this film it's a simple crime thriller exploiting the elements of abuse in a mental facility among other things I have forgotten since I began losing interest in the film half way through it.  Maybe it's just me, I just couldn't help but feel that nothing exciting ever happens in movies like this...

There is always a missed opportunity to do something completely unexpected. I have the same issue with the women imprisonment movies and TV series... They are always failing and fucking up the predatory sex scenes involving two women. The aggressor either gets her ass kicked by someone or she's called off by the inmate who runs the prison. But in male prison movies and TV series like OZ, the victim never gets saved by anyone.. They are going to force you to watch male on male sexual violence. There isn't a single prison film that have a sex scene involving a male predator preying on other men getting his ass kicked by some other guy coming to the weaker guy's rescue.

Even before I watched half of the movie I already predicted that the story was going to mostly revolve around abuse and the mistreatment of the mental health patients and that it would be the driving force behind most of the plot. But since this crap movie came out in 2019 I went in with really low expectations because ever since 2008 movies have been reduced to total shit even without the wokery nonsense. They still failed to do anything other than remind me exactly why I'm so nostalgic for films from the past...Not that we didn't have a few turds back then because we certainly did. The 80s and even the 90s was rife with a few forgettable cheesy bad movies. Just not as bad as they are now, cinema and entertainment was still ahead of the boring playing it safe garbage that gets produced today.

In the case of this movie, it's biggest crime was failing to captivate me. So 24 minutes into the film and I'm already bored to death waiting for something exciting to happen...I have watched a lot of psychological thrillers, and this one is by far is the worse.... It's no wonder I re-watched The Shining 20+ times instead. One thing I like about the film is the setting, the clothing and that it takes place in a much older time period than my Escape From Echidna story which is between 1989 and 1991...

Though I like the Victorian clothing in the Madhouse film and I said "I should have done something like that for my own story." Though the nurses already have a Victorian look but I still prefer to mix things up. There is abuse and some "torture" elements in Escaping The Madhouse...Some minor attempts at trying to be "shocking" but I've seen much worse in other Crime Thrillers that make whatever I've seen in this flick a cakewalk.

Overall my experience with this film was disappointing but one cannot expect much from this era of cinema... It's nothing like the movie Misery from 1994 which is a far more interesting crime thriller about a mentally unwell ex-nurse who is deeply obsessed with her favorite author. After his car crashes in a horrible snow storm. Annie saves his life by dragging him all the way back to her house to nurse him back to good health, but then she eventually becomes unhinged when Paul kills off her beloved Misery in his novel and then the real fun begins with him trying to figure out a way to escape a real madhouse. Annie's home was a mental institution itself! And that's what made it a fascinating story.

Honestly I love trying to create thrillers and horrors stories of my own...  With all these different artist you would think by now someone would have already done an interesting story about a mental asylum. The one thing about this Escaping From The Madhouse film is that a lot of the patients seem rather normal, like their mental issues weren't really all that severe.

The Protagonist seemed like the most normal of them all, like she didn't even belong in the place to begin with. It's like I was watching Lidia from Beetlejuice. She would have been far too comfortable in a place like this. And that's what I got from the protagonist of this movie, she appeared to be quite comfortable in this so called Madhouse with a few fearful moments and here and there....Just wish there was a scene or two with one of the nurses groping her breast or something without permission.

I mean they already had some scenes involving women dancing together, why not take it a bit further and throw some coerced lesbianism in there for me to enjoy? It wouldn't have been "woke" if they had of done that. It would have been the RIGHT thing to do in such an environment. Perhaps someday I'll talk about my whole interest with lesbianism themes and concepts, my full blown take on all of this. The last thing I ever want is for people to believe I'm a Leftist of any kind. Because political wise, I really don't give a damn about stuff like "Pride" month and will never use my art to promote it.  But as I said I'll talk about my relation to all this Lesbianism content separately in a different blog.
