Is Baraag planning to backstab 3D artists?
Having something taken away from you is becoming a trend these past couple of years as everyone from the Government to your every day favorite entertainment platform to host your work on as well as viewing the work of others everywhere you go it's all the anti-freedom garbage. Before I even dare jump to any conclusions, I took out the time to observe some recent new changes over on Baraag as it seems that the host posted what appeared to be some red flags. As I recalled, this same damn thing happened with Pixiv before the purges took place... They started off by slowly restricting a few things you aren't allowed to post, or telling you what sort of tags you needed to use. After that they begin writing up a lot of new shitty rules that infringed on everything else.
As time goes on you start to realize that the polices get more and more stricter and then the censorship unfolds. Then comes the betrayal part when you try to log into a site you've been supporting for years and find out you've been completely cancelled and lost every goddamn ounce of progress you made, including your followers... I've always respected the host, Satori for giving artists an acceptable place to express themselves free of any kind of rejection, free of convictions, and free of being evicted because their content is offensive to specific groups. But even he's starting to show signs of caving and finally surrendering.
The question however remains, is Baraag planning to backstab it's own community like everyone else did? Will they eventually stop allowing 3D artists to host their content on the platform and then finally completely banning certain genres of art like every other art platform does? I'm going to assume the answer to that question is, YES. By the end of the year or maybe sometime next year Baraag is eventually going to exile specific 3D artists, and then that will be the end us. I knew that eventually this time would come, I just didn't know when...But I had this feeling, a gut feeling that there would be red flags and signs of things not getting better, but only worse.
In Satori's case well I'm going to just assume that eventually constantly fighting endless battles to safeguard an artists right to free expression can wear a single person down. Even someone who is willing to fight tooth and nail against the anti-fun crowd that want to take everything away from us so all we'll have left is bullshit politics to indulge in. Everywhere you look throughout society, there are more laws, polices, and rules being created to make life hell on earth and impossible to enjoy anymore which is why I hear so many people who agree with me on why the 1990s was the last great era we had left. There was censorship back then too, but it's even WORSE now than it was then. Even the early 2000s wasn't this bad... The changes started somewhere in 2008.
As for Baraag itself I would assume that it could be Mastadon the main fediverse platform that host the majority of these other instances including Baraag on their servers are the ones possibly changing the rules which also affects Baraag. It's either that or Satori himself is finally changing his own stance on certain things. He'll still allow 2D artists the right to post, but those of us involved in 3D art will be denied the same rights as the 2D artists depending on what it is we're creating.
Because it's always the 3D artists who get shafted, evicted, banned, exiled, or kicked off platforms. Hentai-Foundry and eventually even Pixiv did it to every artists that was creating specific content they no longer allowed. And While Pixiv is too afraid to just go through with removing ALL 3D artists based on the content they've turned against, they just nitpick and do it one at a time rather than banning all of those artists from their platform. My guess is they are afraid that removing everyone all at the same time will hurt them financially.
They think that by supporting these unconstitutional policies and then enforcing them. They are making the world a "better/safer" place by taking away people's rights to freely express themselves which has actually helped people overcome challenges in their life. In my case, I create art because I'm a severely depressed individual who is quite unwell and suicidal. Artwork has given me a small purpose in this dying world of misery, pain, betrayal, self defeating, suffering, deception, lies, manipulation, and unforgettable disappointments. I indulge in a variety of arts whenever I'm feeling deeply depressed, and it has become a great way to slightly reduce the constant desire to overdose on sleeping pills and just get it over with already.
So to me these policy changes that infringes on freedom of expression in actuality shows how fragile, weak, passive, ridiculous they really are. I just wish that all forms of fictionalize content could coexist on these art platforms like how it use to be before in the past. Now these platforms just single out content they believe is offensive to them personally, then write it into a TOS policy. Is it because of other matters? I don't know, but what I do know is that fictional work of art is something that should be protected in all of it's forms. I've said it before, we need better representation that will do what it takes to protect artists free speech and expression, but this isn't something that we currently have.
Baraag was the last line of defense for several years but after Hentai Foundry betrayed one of it's art communities followed by Pixiv eventually doing the same, those artists practically disappeared completely. They didn't even bother to replace it with something else, those artists simply retired and called it quits. So now it's like only a small percentage of them exist anymore but nowhere NEAR the amount of artists that were around when art platforms were accepting of everything, when the internet use to be a lot more fun than what it is now.
No I think this is pretty much it for me...Baraag was all we had left and now we've got nothing, nowhere else to go. I'm not a fan of having to close the door on ideas I've become very accepting of over the years, ideas that have benefited my work and made it stand out, enhanced the themes they were responsible for improving. Being forced to give up on all of this is too much... And no I'm not going to attack Satori over this like I did to all the others in the past that screwed me out of a platform. I'll probably either stick around until I'm told I am not welcomed or some of my ideas are no longer allowed anymore or I just seize creating at all, I don't know what I plan to do at this point..With Baraag finally surrendering and shutting some of us out just like everybody else did due to possible harassment, threats, fears, pressure, and perhaps other uncertain factors. Well a lot of 3D artists on the platform are already assuming that it's over and I don't blame them for feeling that way because I believe the same. Baraag was never going to be a permanent platform, it was just a band-aid, a temporary sanctuary for artists who were outcast, artists who were unfairly banned from everywhere else. Now here we are as we enter further into the Era of losing it all. I was just waiting for something like this to happen so I could say "well this is it, this is the year I finally retire." And no it was never made official, but I'm not stupid. I am familiar with red flags like the ones that were posted on Baraag. I know where this is all going to eventually lead to.
